Drag and Drop Order Entry
Drag and drop is done all in the map pane using the RIGHT mouse button, or (for Macintosh users especially) by holding the shift key down and using the left mouse button. The directions below assume youre using the right mouse button.
To start the process, click on a hero (with the right button) and hold the button down. Notice that the cursor changes from the normal arrow to one of the drag and drop cursors. If you havent moved the mouse, it should still say MENU on the cursor, as you move the cursor over other objects on the map or just into other provinces the cursor will change to show you what actions are available (roughly) if release the button at that time. The table below summarizes the actions you can perform by moving the cursor to different places.

What is described above works great for the first phase, but the hero may have moved at that point, so starting a drag and drop from the hero isnt really appropriate past the first phase. Instead the last phase and last known location is indicated by a highlighted strip labeled something like <<< L35_After_1 >>>. To continue entering orders, just start your next drag from that tag instead of from the hero himself (if you start from the hero himself the program will change his phase 1 order which may not be what you intended).
Youll also notice that there are smaller tags that show the location of the hero from phase to phase, they look like this <1>, <2>, etc. You can change a previous move for the hero by dragging starting from one of those tags. Its important to remember that this tag shows the position of the hero AFTER the indicated phase based on the move that has already been entered. This means that to get the menu of actions that are allowed when the hero is in the same province as he started in you actually have to drag BACK to the province he began the indicated phase in.
For hired/charmed/resurrected heroes there isnt a logical starting point on the map for editing the moves via drag and drop. In order to do drag and drop editing on such a hero you must first right click on the hero in the action pane (where some number of phases have already been marked as unavailable). Then youll see the normal drag and drop tags and you can change his moves as above.
The final feature in the drag and drop family is the quick orders view in the status bar. As you move the cursor over any of your leaders youll see a summary of their orders for this game-turn in the status window. This is the quickest source of feedback that your drag and drop actions are being interpreted correctly.
Note: Not all possible moves can be entered with drag and drop, if you cant do what you want with the mouse, use the action pane. In particular, special spells (level 5+) are not available in the drag and drop interface.
Note: WinSAGA has more limited move validation and error checking program features that the regular SAGA program has. Use extra caution when using WinSAGA to enter your moves.
