This command lets you select an XK file to merge into the current game display.  

The XK file you are merging in is used to supplement information that you already have, in no case does the contents of the new XK file override the world as you know it.  

This allows you to get the most accurate picture of the world possible by merging in files starting with the most recent information and ending with the oldest.
